Description

This course surveys literature produced by African American writers beginning at the Harlem Renaissance and moving into contemporary literature. ENG 2XX will address various literary genres, including novel, short story, poetry, and drama. Through lecture and class discussions, students will become aware of a writer’s style and rationale for a given work. Students will explore texts from a variety of perspectives including literary, historical, race, gender and sexuality. Prerequisite: C or better in ENG 101. (T)
